Tsukasa Makino

Mr. Maciag;

It was very nice to see and talk with you at the ACORD headquarter. Thank you for introducing me in your Blog.

It was nearly three years ago when I attended the ACORD/LOMA Insurance Systems Forum 2004 for the first time. I was very shocked to see 2,600 people get together in a huge hotel in Las Vegas, 200 vendors spread their booths in a vast exhibitions hall to discuss and exchange views on technology for insurance industry. We don’t have such kind of large-scale, insurance industry focused forum in Japan.

Since then, I realized the importance of standards for insurance industry.
Although the environment of Japanese insurance industry had been quite different from U.S. and there had been less needs for standards, I believe it will be essential from now because there will be more and more active data transactions on the Internet between various parties.

Please let me work with you for the future prosperity of insurance industry worldwide.

Thank you.

Tsukasa.

I am sure that the climate of Japanese Insurance Industry is changing and there are strong needs for increase of efficiency through industrial-wide stdarization. And recent problems of non-payment by insurers may accellerate this change.
Move to a broker after 20 years with a insurance carrier has given me a strong bileif of necessity for stnadarization. I believe ACORD may play a strong role even in Japan together with proper partners.

ACORD LOMA DAILY NEWS

New Book

  • My latest book presents the challenges members face when adopting industry standards as well as the opportunities that come as a result. It features my discussions with many people over many years and follows the foundation I set in my first book "The Business Information Revolution".

    Industry standards are never adopted in a vacuum. They become part and parcel of all the trials and tribulations managers face in their day to day work. ACORD Standards are always part of a larger software development project that brings along people, priorities and politics. Adopting industry standards isn't simple, but the benefits far outweigh the problems of building and maintaining proprietary alternatives.

    I trust that you will appreciate my frankness, identify with some of the challenges and learn from what others have done to pave the way.
