I received a comment from a (small) insurance company executive saying "thanks for making the small firm feel unwelcome" at the ACORD-LOMA event. He gave me no details but I want to elevate his comment to this post. He mentioned connecting with potential vendors and it may be that the exhibit hall vendors may not have included software for the small firm. I am not sure, but I will call and get the details and share them with you.
While we are on the topic of regional or small insurers, please know that ACT and AUGIE have been desperately attempting to get small firms involved. I held a roundtable meeting in my office on the topic and expense issues were a major factor it appeared. AUGIE is now planning a regional insurer session in Fort Lauderdale in October to open lines of communications with this important community to indepedent agents.
My reply to anyone not feeling welcome at the ACORD-LOMA event is a simple three step process. First, make me aware of the problem with all the details. Second, give me suggestions so we can plan to solve the problem. Third, get involved because leadership from each community is what drives ACORD. If your interests are not being represented, it may be because you have no representatives doing so. You can volunteer in any number of ways.
